To visit Prague is to step back into centuries-old history and to find oneself among outstanding wonders of preservation. The ‘Golden City’s’ ancient architecture and alluring designs, unique to this part of the world, have no rivals. Prague is a cherished destination for millions of people who come here each year to see the famous Jewish Quarter, founded over a millennium ago! Guests who visit the Jewish Quarter can see in person the oldest continuously-used synagogue north of the Alps, and a cemetery of impossibly stacked tombstones, each one older than the next, an amazing testament to the past. An important feature of the Jewish Quarter is The Jewish Museum, a complex of four former synagogues housing one of the world's largest collections of Judaica - our Precious Legacy.
There is so much to see and experience in Prague, both for learning about history and for simply treating the senses. The Hradcany Castle complex is one example of a breath-taking attraction of historical greatness. Once the seat of Bohemian kings and the Holy Roman Empire, today it holds the office of the Czech President. On the grounds of the castle is ‘Golden Lane‘, an old cobblestone street dividing rows of sixteenth-century townhouses, where once lived soothsayers and alchemists, as well as writer Franz Kafka (The Metamorphosis). Prague offers many additional sites of historical interest and old-world charm, as well as many terrific collections and museums.
It is our business to ensure that each individual client is met with care, and allowed to discover and delight in the places we relish sharing. We strive to make sure that every guest will get the absolute most out of a visit to our beautiful city and country. At the end of the day, it is a wonderful feeling to recognize our success by the reactions of our clients. When the tour is over and the travelers have gone home, many have been very kind in expressing their accolades for us in writing, and very dear in becoming our friends over the years. We look forward to welcoming you, and giving you an amazing and memorable encounter with the Czech Republic!
Entirely Yours,
Luba Poleva
Managing Director
There are currently 10 official Jewish communities in the Czech Republic, with approximately 3,000 registered members, 1,500 of whom reside in Prague. It is estimated that there are another 10,000 to 15,000 unregistered Jews. There are also a wide variety of Jewish organisations thriving under the auspices of the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic and the Jewish Community of Prague, including 3 kindergartens, primary and high schools, youth organizations, Social Care Facility for elderly, sports and special interest groups. Altogether, some 2,000 people are involved with these organisations.
The orthodox Old-New Synagogue, the Spanish Synagogue, the High Synagogue, and the Art Nouveau Jubilee Synagogue on Jerusalemska Street are all functioning synagogues serving Prague. Bejt Praha hosts regular Kabbalat Shabbat services in the Jewish Town Hall, and special holiday services in various locations, often in the Spanish Synagogue. The Old-New Synagogue and the Jubilee Synagogue also offer special holiday services. Chabad House and Bejt Simcha host regular Shabbat services, as well.
The Jewish Museum in Prague is home to one of the most extensive collections of Judaica in the world.
Our Jewish community in Prague is very small. Presently we have 1,800 registered members, including everyone from the elderly to newborn babies. It is certainly not easy nowadays to find a qualified Jewish tour guide, especially one who is English-speaking.
All guides with Precious Legacy Tours are very qualified, but we cannot guarantee a Jewish quide. Your tour guide may be a member of the Prague Jewish community, a survivor of the Holocaust, a Ph.D. in Jewish history, or a fully authorized, licensed guide who has passed strict exams for the Jewish Museum of Prague following extensive training and education.
On a full-day tour, it is customary to invite your guide and driver as your guests for lunch or a coffee break, if you are stopping. Tipping is welcome in this country. It is customary to tip both drivers and guides. A recommended tip is usually 10% of your bill if you're satisfied with the tour. If you wish to tip, please do so in cash, as tipping with a credit card in the Czech Republic is complicated and taxable. Each hotel has envelopes at the reception desk. At the end of the tour, you can use envelopes from your hotel to tip your guide and driver.
Prices for tours in the Czech Republic are all listed in local currency - the koruna (Czech crown). Even though it is a part of the European Union, the Czech Republic has not adopted the Euro. For private tours, We will accept Euros, Czech crowns, or American dollars for the current exchange rate on the day of payment. Please be aware that exchange rates change daily. In addition to the cash payment options, we also accept all major credit cards. Please accept our apologies for being unable to accept personal checks or travelers’ checks, as neither are accepted forms of payment at any bank in the Czech Republic.
All prices on this website are given in Czech crowns, although the currency in Poland is the Polish zlota and in Hungary the Hungarian forint. Germany and Austria both use the Euro. Our colleagues in Hungary and Poland only accept payment in cash, although Euros, US dollars or local currency would all be okay.

If your travel details require an earlier start, it is possible to leave your hotel and begin your private tour earlier. If you will be departing on a flight on the day of your private tour, the driver can pick you up with your luggage from your hotel before the tour and deliver you directly to the airport after the tour. Precious Legacy Tours can arrange accommodations for you at 1 to 5-star hotels, or at private apartments starting from 40 Euros per person per night.
Why choose a private apartment?
Because you have your own key to your apartment and to the building, it offers you total privacy. The apartments we offer are very centrally located, within walking distance to all the central attractions and the synagogues. Fully equipped with televisions, microwave, dishes, bedding, and more, it is a great option for the independent traveler. Even though the apartment complex does not include a breakfast, you can order breakfast or use your kitchen. Nice little coffee shops are conveniently located close by. Considering the location in the center of the city, a private apartment is a much better value than a hotel room of equivalent quality.
We also arrange hotel bookings, if this is what you prefer, so please just get in touch with your request!
