Nearby Prague is the university town of Plzen, famous both as being the home of the world-renowned Pilsner lager and one of the largest synagogues in the world. You’d be able to see the museum of brewing in the Czech Republic at the old Pilsner brewery, the Great Synagogue and the beautiful Gothic church of St. Bartholomew, set in the middle of the well-preserved town square with the tallest church spire in the country (built like this just to ensure that it was slightly higher than the synagogue!).
